Inflatable Bouncers

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Inflatable bouncers, also known as moonwalks, inflatable jumpers or inflatable trampolines, are those life-size toys filled with air that kids can jump, slide, and play in.

Inflatable bouncers are one of the best-love of the children. Being fit and active, they will spend hours on the Inflatable bouncers. They will play to their heart’s desire too. They would not stop jumping and playing around it, if they are allowed.

As obesity being a serious health problem, playing inflatable bouncers is a fantastic way for children’s exercise to control their weight while having fun, but not being tired as the traditional sports. With these life-size toys, you can mask exercise with playtime, which is a very neat way of asking your kids to burn some baby fats.

More importantly, as an adult, you can join in the fun too. There are many inflatable bouncers available today that can accommodate four or more kids and adults at the same time. Playing inflatable bouncer could be the best way for you to spend time with your kids, while burning some calories yourself.

Inflatable bouncers are by nature safe. However, there also may be some accident happening due to some improper usage and carelessness. To ensure your safety, the following points should be kept in your mind.

• The ground must be flat. Your inflatable bouncers cannot be set on a slope.
• There should be at least 5 feet of space on each side of the inflatable bouncers.
• Make sure there are no overhanging branches or power lines which are too close to the inflatable bouncers
• Clear the entire event area of debris, including sticks, rocks, toys, and animal waste
• Accessible power. Make out how many blowers your inflatable bouncers needs. You should have a separate 20-amp circuit available for each blower.
Inflatable bouncers cannot be used in inclement weather. In addition to rain, inflatable bouncers are not safe for using in the case that the winds exceed 25 miles per hour.
• Follow the rules: your inflatable bouncers should have a specification. Read and follow the rules on it.
• No shoes, jewelry, food or drink: anyone entering the inflatable bouncers must remove their shoes, jewelry, watches, including sharp objects. Likewise, food drinks, and gum should be kept out. In addition, no silly string can be used in inflatable bouncers- the chemicals will damage the vinyl.
• Take care to the steps: the steps leading out of a bouncer are inflatable and bouncy too, and getting out is awkward.
• Supervise: A responsible adult should observe each of your inflatable bouncers all the time to make sure things stay under control.

With this information in mind you would be well prepared to host a smooth and problem-free party or event. We hope you enjoy your interactive inflatable bouncers.

The development of inflatable boats in WW1 and WW2

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

With the loss of the RMS Titanic in 1912, and World War I losses of ships to submarine-launched torpedoes, the need for inflatable boats was plain.

One cause of the loss of life on the Titanic was the lack of lifeboats. Even if every lifeboat had been completely filled with passengers and crew, there would have been no way to rescue more than half of all the people on board. The first SOLAS treaty was designed to avoid such a disaster happening again. One of its provisions was to ensure that vessels had enough lifeboats to provide every person aboard the vessel with a place. Putting this rule into effect was not difficult with cargo ships: they had small crews and plenty of deck space. Passenger ships had to stack lifeboats on top of each other to able to carry enough to accommodate the large number of passengers and crew. Warships also had large crews and little deck space.

Between the two World Wars, Goodyear found a way to join rubber to other materials. They made life rafts of square-shaped inflated rubber tubes with a rigid floor. Such rafts were to be stacked vertically aboard warships, usually standing on deck and leaning against deck-houses. But conservative thinking from navies held back this new idea.

Pierre Debroutelle’s 1937 design was the first known to have its inflatable tube in a U-shape. It was the first boat of its kind to be certified by the French Navy. Its added wooden transom was patented on 10 August 1943. This version was the predecessor of today’s inflatable sports and pleasure boats.

World War II changed everything. Submarine warfare in the Battle of the Atlantic led to casualties among warships and merchant ships.

US warships began using rubber life rafts. Since the rubber was much higher quality than 35 years before, the inflatable returned, but this time it was boat-shaped.

In military use inflatable boats were used to transport torpedoes and other cargo. They also allowed troops to make landings in shallow water, and their compact size and storability made overland transport possible.

The Marine Raiders were originally trained to carry out raids and landings from inflatable boats carried by high speed transports.

In August 1942 the submarines USS Argonaut and USS Nautilus carried elements of the 2nd Raider Battalion who carried out the Makin Island raid from LCR-L inflatable boats. Invasions of the Battle of Arawe by the 112th Cavalry Regiment and parts of the Battle of Tarawa involved amphibious landings in inflatable boats against heavy enemy resistance.

One of the models, the Zodiac brand inflatable boat, grew to be popular with the military and contributed significantly to the rise of the civilian inflatable boat industry, both in Europe and in the United States. After World War II, surplus inflatable boats were sold to the public. A version of this boat has been adapted by the Marine Mammal Center for use in rescuing injured marine mammals at sea.

Decorate your house with the best Inflatable Mattress

Monday, April 5th, 2010

When inflatable products were manufactured, the skill of producing immediately used into the manufacture of inflatable mattress. At the very beginning, I believe they were welcomed by many families, especially the large families or the families where there were occasionally many visitors. But traditional inflatable mattresses used to be that a decent inflatable mattress took up just about as much room as a standard mattress… even when deflated. They were not always convenient items. In fact, most considered them more trouble than they were worth. They were big, heavy, and required a lot of work to inflate. For the most part, people preferred to just have visitors sleep on couches. Even cots were more practical.

All that has changed in recent years. They are relatively small when deflated (they roll up inside a nylon bag the size of a large sleeping bag stuff sack), and perhaps more importantly, they inflate with the press of a button after they are plugged in. Of course, if you are considering this as an item for the outdoors, the fact that it requires electricity might still make a product like this impractical.

Inflatable air mattresses can be an incredibly useful thing. Whether for house guests, invited or uninvited, or kids home from school, invited or uninvited, their benefits far outweigh the costs of owning them. It seems as if many houses today are built under the premise the more space and more rooms increase the level of comfort and make for happier families, but I would argue the opposite. Just as the storage bed forces people to do more with less, and come together a bit more, an inflatable air mattress has the same effect. And even if you’re having a couple over, companies have a product for them as well. These days, you can find a double air mattress just as easily as you can find a single. So why not tell your friend and his wife that they’re welcome to stay at your place for the weekend, but that things are going to be “a little cozy.”

If you’re looking for an inflatable mattress, there are a number of outlets that I would recommend. Of course, you’ll first need to consider what you want out of the product. In case it isn’t very clear, I am a big believer in Y&G lines of products. With a highly efficient air pump that inflates your mattress quickly and effortlessly, this mattress has to be seen to be believed. When it is fully inflated, many people have trouble noticing that it is not a standard mattress with internal coil springs. Somehow they have created a product that inflates so completely as to convince people that they are sleeping in a normal bed… pretty amazing. Really though, you can’t go wrong with either of these options. Unless you’re my old college roommate, this isn’t going to be the primary mattress for anyone, simply a stopgap for visitors when they spend the night. So, do a little shopping, and analyze your budget, and go from there. Best of luck, and check back with sleepybedtime.com for more helpful advice.

Application of inflatable balloons

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Inflatable balloons are common in our lives. You can always find them in some ceremony conditions. Today, let’s have a short discussion on the application of inflatable balloons.

Firstly, Decoration or entertainment

Party balloons are mostly made of natural latex tapped from rubber trees, and can be filled with air, helium, water, or any other suitable liquid or gas. The rubber’s elasticity makes the volume adjustable.

Filling the balloon with air can be done with the mouth, a manual or electric inflator (such as a hand pump), or with a source of compressed gas.

When rubber balloons are filled with helium so that they float, they typically retain their buoyancy for only a day or so. The enclosed helium atoms escape through small pores in the latex which are larger than the helium atoms. Balloons filled with air usually hold their size and shape much longer.

Even a perfect rubber balloon eventually loses gas to the outside. The process by which a substance or solute migrates from a region of high concentration, through a barrier or membrane, to a region of lower concentration is called diffusion. The inside of balloons can be treated with a special gel (for instance, the polymer solution sold under the “Hi Float” brand) which coats the inside of the balloon to reduce the helium leakage, thus increasing float time to a week or longer.

Beginning in the late 1970s, some more expensive (and longer-lasting) foil balloons made of thin, unstretchable, less permeable metalized plastic films started being produced. These balloons have attractive shiny reflective surfaces and are often printed with color pictures and patterns for gifts and parties. The most important attribute of metalized nylon for balloons is its light weight, increasing buoyancy and its ability to keep the helium gas from escaping for several weeks.

Professional balloon party decorators use electronic equipment to enable the exact amount of helium to fill the balloon. For non-floating balloons air inflators are used. Professional quality balloons are used, which differ from most retail packet balloons by being larger in size and made from 100% biodegradable latex.

Secondly, Flying machines

Large inflatable balloons filled with hot air or buoyant gas (often hydrogen or helium) have been used as flying machines since the 18th century. The earliest flights were made with hot air balloons using air heated with a flame, or hydrogen; later, helium was used. Unlike airships, balloons’ travel is directed exclusively by wind.

Inflatable armbands

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Inflatable armbands (usually referred to as just “armbands”, “water wings”, or “swimmies”), are devices to help a wearer float in water and learn to swim.

Inflatable armbands are typically cylindrical inflatable plastic bands that are inflated and worn on the upper arm. When the wearer is in water, the air inside the armbands provides buoyancy on account of its far lower density than the water. Although often thought of as a child’s flotation device, armbands are also available in adult sizes.

Inflatable armbands are parts of water games for children. Although inflatable armbands are popular among small children, swimming experts caution against using them, because although water wings help the child to float, they do not prevent him/her from accidentally going under water and potentially drowning. Inflatable armbands are not a life-saving device. Mistaking them for one can create a potentially fatal false sense of security.

National safety standards such as BS EN 13138-3:2007 require inflatable armbands to conform to certain standards, such as puncture resistance and the level of buoyancy retained after a period of time beyond the inflation valve being opened and left open (an assessment of the efficiency of non-return valves designed to prevent the armbands deflating suddenly if an inflation valve is opened). Standards also require prominent labelling near to the inflation valves to the effect that inflatable armbands are not life preservers and should only be used under competent supervision.
Inflatable armbands for swimmers were invented by Bernhard Markwitz in Hamburg, Germany. In 1956, Markwitz’s three-year-old daughter had fallen into a goldfish pond and nearly drowned. Because of this, Markwitz invented and developed a swimming aid that would be safer for children than the swimming rings at the time, which were made of cork. A lottery win (253 thousand Deutsche Mark) gave him a suitable start capital. In 1964, Markwitz had developed the armbands in their final form and marketed them under the name “BEMA”. Their modern name in German, Schwimmflügel, literally translates as “swimming wings”.

A similar design of waterwings was shown in the magazine Modern Mechanix in October 1931. They were made of rubber, consisted of two parts and were worn on the upper arms. The armbands could be inflated through a valve. These were first demonstrated in public on the beaches of Los Angeles, California, USA.

In 1907, in response to swimming having become part of the school curriculum and therefore increased parental concerns about the safety of their children in the water, the Dean’s Rag Book Company, London, introduced the Swimeesy Buoy, inflatable armbands with a colourful design in the form of a butterfly. (A plain white version was also available). This product became so popular that it was available, almost unchanged, until the outbreak of World War Il.
